bootie-licious

Finished another pair of booties – I think I need to do two more pairs, then send ’em off.  These look like pickles to me!  Getting more creative with my photography… I keep using the same wooden chairs and benches outside, but I decided to mix things up and stick these on a tree.  I […]

bootie call

A friend asked me to make several pairs of booties for an upcoming baby shower.  I set a new record for yarn store visits (in and out in under ten minutes, and I really DID only buy what I went in for!)  Nabbed five pretty shades, since the gender wasn’t yet known.  I started with […]

never try to take an artistic picture of your own foot when your neighbors are watching

One sock done!  Pic’s a little overexposed, but you get the point.  The folks across the street caught me attempting odd contortionist-type moves to try to get a good pic of this.  Too bad those were all blurry, and I had to go with the usual view of my left ankle.  It’s sad that I’m […]

I get no respect

First the dog is unimpressed by my lovely sock, then my dad tells me that ‘there’s a great big hole in the toe, you know’. Thanks, Dad.  Very helpful. On an unrelated note, I bought my ticket to see The National – squee!

Scenes from a summer porch

Bugs droning, kids playing pee-wee football in the park across the street, sun filtering through the trees, dog sleeping on my foot, and half of a sock on the needles. Life is good. Gratuitous sock pics: MacKenzie remains unconvinced… she apparently doesn’t understand the importance of a good sock.

This yarn will not defeat me

When I first decided to take on the challenge of knitting socks, I bought some lovely purple Malabrigo Sock yarn.  I also bought an eight-inch circular needle in a size US 1.  Mistake number one.  I’d never knitted on anything that small before.  For non-knitters, this needle is just 2.25 mm in diameter – that’s […]

A New Beginning

After a few years of keeping an online store that really had no online shoppers, I’ve decided to consign it to the scrap heap and just keep a blog that makes me happy.  Etsy can sell things online much better than I can, so I will play to my own strengths and quit trying to […]
